Consider:

• Canned items should be pop top (or consider donating can openers)

• Rice-a-Roni is popular, but oil is needed and not often available

• Salt, pepper, and spices are rare finds but appreciated

• Tea bags and coffee can make someone's day

• Every child deserves a cookie once in awhile

• Tuna and crackers make an easy, nutritious lunch

• Cake mixes and frosting make a child’s birthday possible

• Dishwashing detergent is expensive and always appreciated

Mix It Up:

• Challenge yourself to set a price point and see how much food/products can be purchased with the amount (you may be surprised how quickly you can fill a shopping cart)

• Skip a meal out and donate instead (for every dollar donated, food pantries can purchase up to $5 worth of food)

• Teach your children the value of giving back by including them in the process (have them help select foods they think children in need would appreciate, like after school snacks)
